And, so it begins…

Around the middle of December every year I start thinking about my goals and resolutions for the following year. “Where do I want to be at physically, mentally, emotionally by December 2018?”

Physically: Exumas, Bahamas for our 10th wedding anniversary. (TEN YEARS…WHEN ON EARTH DID THAT HAPPEN?! Okay, okay, we are at nine years right now, but still NINE YEARS…WHEN ON EARTH DID THAT HAPPEN?!)

Mentally: Prepared. I want to feel as if I am more at ease and ready to conquer whatever may come my way. Organization is key.

Emotionally: Learning to live with less “stuff”. Being truly thankful for the life we have and the blessings that have come our way.

If you are feeling the same way, and want some advice on how to put this plan into action, read the following.

Step 1: Dog-pile up with some of your favorite people and just listen. Listen to the laughter, the giggles, and the squeals.  I can almost guarantee this will show you what really, truly matters in life.

Step 2: Slowly but surely, eliminate the clutter. Clutter in your home or clutter in your inbox, either way these things aren’t great for your mental state. At least they aren’t for mine!

Step 3: Get together as a family and plan out your week, month, year whatever works best for you. Travel is a major part of our lives. I am a travel agent, but even if I wasn’t, it would still be a major priority for us. I feel traveling with our kids is an essential part of their childhood. On the flip-side, I am pretty passionate about adult-only trips too! Traveling keeps us connected through experiences and opportunities, not through things we own or have.

I have a much bigger and more drawn out plan that I’ve written for myself, but I figured I wouldn’t bore you all with that. Heck, my to-do list today said 1. Mop Floors. It did NOT at any point say,  1. Start a blog. I’m guessing if you’ve made it to this point you can assume what didn’t get a check mark on the list today! And so it begins…
